Running a Commercial VPN Service on EDIS Global: Locations, IP Addresses and Traffic

Commercial VPN providers are welcome at EDIS Global. This includes paid retail VPN services whose customers’ traffic exits to the internet through our VPS addresses. We supply infrastructure to some of the world’s largest VPN providers, and also welcome operators starting with their first few endpoints.

Standard KVM VPS plans support commercial VPN deployments. Choose resources for your protocol, encryption workload, packet rate and traffic profile. You manage the VPN application and your customer relationships; our team operates the underlying infrastructure. A special VPN plan is not required simply because you sell access to customers.

Choose locations by routes and customer demand

Our network offers around 50 locations, including Zurich, two Stockholm facilities, Seville, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. Check current plan availability and discuss larger deployments with us. Test published addresses and Looking Glass tools from the networks your customers actually use. Geographic proximity and a local speed test alone cannot establish end-to-end VPN performance.

Plan primary and additional IPv4 addresses

We offer primary IPv4 replacements and up to 10 additional IPv4 addresses per VPS. Standard allocation is automatic and does not guarantee a different subnet. With bespoke selection, choose from the addresses and prefixes available at the hosting location. Tell us how many distinct /24 prefixes you need before ordering; inventory varies by location. Understand what an IP replacement can do

An IP replacement may help when a particular address is blocked externally, but cannot guarantee access through an ISP or country. Filtering may affect an entire prefix or protocol. When the primary address is replaced, the old address stops working immediately. Configure the new address inside the VPS and update your VPN endpoint settings and relevant DNS records. Agree any time-sensitive change with support beforehand.

Budget for incoming plus outgoing traffic

Traffic is counted at the VPS network interface as incoming plus outgoing. For a forwarding VPN workload, approximately 100 GB received and 100 GB sent counts as approximately 200 GB, with protocol overhead affecting the total. For initial planning, 1 TB delivered to end users therefore represents roughly 2 TB of metered traffic, not a guaranteed conversion for every workload. Estimate effective cost per delivered TB using the VPS price, additional IP costs and expected Pool Traffic purchases divided by your expected delivered volume.

Traffic metering and monthly refills

Keep capacity available with Traffic Pool

Each VPS has its own monthly traffic cycle. A shared Traffic Pool provides an additional reserve across your account. Auto-Hydration assigns traffic from the existing Pool balance at 99% usage when enabled and sufficiently funded; it does not buy more traffic automatically. Unassigned Pool Traffic does not expire; unused assigned traffic expires at the VPS’s next monthly refill. When the allowance and approximate 5% grace are exhausted, the VPS is normally rate-limited to approximately 64 kbit/s, with no automatic overage charge. Assign sufficient traffic, complete a qualifying plan upgrade or wait for the refill to restore full speed.

Operate a responsible commercial service

Maintain authentication, server security and a monitored abuse contact. You are responsible for traffic generated by your customers and for stopping prohibited activity. Reseller guidance requires action on abuse messages within 24 hours, but serious incidents may require immediate restrictions; this is not a guaranteed grace period. Review the AUP and outbound SMTP policy. Registration, verification and available payment methods are handled under the current account and payment policies.

Begin with the locations and resources your initial demand requires. Test your actual protocol, monitor traffic and capacity, and automate repeatable work with the Order and Management APIs.
