Free VPS Latency Test

How this latency test works

Your browser makes a secure WebSocket connection to each configured Meter.net test endpoint and measures ten round trips after an initial warm-up exchange. Minimum is the quickest response; average is the mean of the samples; maximum is the slowest response.

This measures response time, not download speed or VPS processing performance. Browser results can differ from command-line ICMP ping. Wi-Fi, a VPN, other traffic and your provider’s routing can affect the result. Test from the connection you intend to use; customers on other networks may see different results.

The latency categories are a guide, not a guarantee of application performance. A failed browser test does not establish that the VPS location is offline. Use the location’s Looking Glass to investigate further.

Test details and saved results

Up to six different endpoints are tested at once. Connections have a five-second connection timeout, a three-second response timeout and a fifteen-second overall limit. Locations assigned to the same endpoint share one measurement. Results are kept in this browser tab for up to thirty minutes so you can return after comparing plans. Run the test again after changing your connection.

The test connects to Meter.net endpoints, which receive your connection’s IP address. About Meter.net’s browser ping test.
